Bike, Barge & Cruise the authentic northern part of Holland and Germany – A combination of stunning landscapes, beautiful lakes & rivers, charming Dutch villages and historic German cities. Visit the charming Dutch harbours of Hoorn & Enkhuizen, inextricably linked to the Dutch East India Company, and experience the ‘northern’ atmosphere in the provinces of Friesland & Groningen, the rural gems of the Netherlands. You’ll traverse the stunning flat landscape on good & solid cycle paths, and cruise the IJsselmeer, Holland’s largest lake. Then, it’s on to the Weser, a small German river, before visiting the ancient German cities of Leer and Oldenburg. There is an excursion to the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, a family business where the world’s largest cruise ships are built. Visit (or extend your stay in) the city of Bremen, with its outdoor cafes on the ‘Schlachte’, the boardwalk on the Weser river, the Bremer ‘Stadtmusikanten’ (town musicians), and stroll through the wonderful narrow streets & famous market places of the unique Bremen ‘Schnoorviertel’ quarter.

Day-to-day itinerary

Day 1 (Sat): Amsterdam – Hoorn

Check in: 3:30 PM - 5PM. Merlijn will sail for Hoorn, where we’ll stay overnight. There will be a welcome drink and introduction of the crew. Also, we’ll inform you about the tour and the ship, and give you a safety briefing. Dinner will be served during the cruise. In the evening there is a city walk through charming Hoorn.

Day 2 (Sun): Hoorn – Enkhuizen - Lemmer
Day 3 (Mon): Lemmer – Sneek - Leeuwarden
Day 4 (Tue): Leeuwarden – Stroobos – Groningen
Day 5 (Wed): Groningen – Delfzijl - Papenburg
Day 6 (Thu): Papenburg – Oldenburg
Day 7 (Fri): Oldenburg – Vegesack - Bremen
Day 8 (Sat): Bremen

Your bike & barge cruise will include:

Your bike & barge cruise does not include:

  • one dinner
  • drinks other than those mentioned
  • inbound and outbound journey
  • city maps (though a few are available on board)
  • bike maps
  • insurance
  • gratuities

 

For your comfort, we rent out electric bikes at € 30,- each per day, reservations in advance are advisable.

We reserve the right to modify schedule and/or program. If (part of) the route is not navigable due to weather conditions and/or other nautical reasons and/or is closed off due to circumstances and/or for safety reasons, the operator and/or the captain has the right to change the schedule. This includes changing the location of departure and/or arrival and temporarily suspending departure. Nautical and/or meteorological reasons are understood to mean, among others, weather conditions, the tide, obstruction of waterways/shipping lanes, and the condition of the ship. Closed off due to circumstances and/or safety reasons are understood to mean, among others, terrorism, diseases, natural disasters. Changes in schedule and/or program do not give the customer the right on free cancellation.
