Terms of Payment

When you book a Bike & Barge Cruise or Cruise-only tour with us, we ask you for a deposit. 

  • 20% of the total price, at reservation.
  • 80% of the total price, 2 months before your cruise starts.

Cancellation terms

When you cancel your Bike & Barge Cruise or Cruise-only tour, we ask you for a cancellation payment.

The fee might be more then your deposit.

Fee / when you cancel your cruise:

  • 20% after reservation (non-refundable)
  • 50% between 8 & 6 months before your cruise starts
  • 65% between 6 & 4 months before your cruise starts
  • 80% between 4 & 2 months before your cruise starts
  • 90% between 2 months & 1 day before your cruise starts
  • 100% at the embarkation day, or later

(Percentages calculated on total booking price)

You never know what the future holds, we advise a travel & cancellation insurance.

  • the general terms and conditions of Merlijn de magie van water B.V. are based on the 'General Terms and Conditions for package Trips' established by the BBZ association version June 1st 2018, Which have been compiled on the basis of the EU Package Travel Regulation, 2015/2302/EU.
  • the payment and cancellation conditions, mentioned above, are part of Merlijn de magie van water B.V.'s general terms and conditions.
  • all bookings, offers and agreements are governed by Dutch law.
  • Merlijn complies the General Data Protection Regulation to protect your privacy.

Built in 1930 as a cargo vessel a barge, as they called it it was converted into a small cruise ship for 24 passengers in 2002. Since then, with constant adaptations and improvements, it has sailed the European rivers with the elegance of a lady of noble lineage. And not only with elegance, but also with the attentive, warm and cordial hospitality of its crew qualities seasoned with the highest level of professionalism. In a few words, you step aboard the Merlijn and feel like part of the family; everything included. These words are intended as a grateful tribute to Coen, the captain; Cristina, second captain and chef; June, the ever-helpful handyman; Simona, the ever-smiling and diligent one; Catalin, the exuberant matre; Japke, the guide who knows everything there is to know; and, of course, the little beagle pup who brings so much joy to life on board!
