North Germany & Poland – finally back

“Merlijn has too many routes!” is something the owners often say while working through the planning process. And it’s true, too many to fit into one season. With recent expansions towards Austria and Hungary, North Germany had been absent for a few years, much to the disappointment of many interested guests.

In 2027, Merlijn returns to North Germany and Poland. Journeys such as Amazon of the North, Weser, and West Meets East Germany are once again available. Each departure is unique and carefully crafted and Merlijn remains the only Bike & Barge cruise ship operating in this region.

A small heads-up: we already know that 2028 is likely to be filled without these North German routes, so 2027 is your moment.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 11-day Brugge to Amsterdam itinerary. Accommodations are excellent, Chef Christina creates magic from her kitchen, and the scenic countryside is postcard-perfect. The bikes and equipment are excellent and Wi-Fi-helmets a must-have. Not all barge and bike trips have Wi-Fi helmets. The group size of 20 was excellent. Finally, each crew member was welcoming and excellent in their role. Pack light and be open to weather-related and urban traffic issues.
